Amazon Unbox Video Downloads unveils today with a variety of movies and TV shows available for download. Unfortunately their not DVD burnable but the quality is supposed to be good. By the end of the year, there should be a wide variety of downloading services and all our movie access options will expand.

If anyone is interested in watching television on line, including free HBO, download the TVU player at http://www.tvunetworks.com/services/tvviewer.htm. I like it, alot! Especially, HBO and NASA TV. Fox and CNN news channels are also available. Download the player and choose your favorite channels. I have had this for the last couple of months and have found TVU reliable.

See, the big problem with video’s from the web vs physical DVD’s is the same problem with selling mp3’s when everbody was using CD’s. There isn’t a good way of getting them from your computer and into your portable device that makes them better than the original DVD. People will always value something more if it comes with a case…it’s just our habit.
So, Apple (or Microsoft, Creative, Olympus, etc) if you want to get ahead of the new curve, make me a portable dvd player that does widescreen, has a good size screen, a good battery life, and lets me output to my TV and I’ll start buying my movies on your proprietary software and stripping the DRM with third-party tools.
