I know all the talk over the last year has been about YouTube, and I’ve spent my fair share of time browsing and uploading. But today I tested blip.tv, and I must say: it rocks!
This video sharing service offers RSS feeds for your videos, automatic blogging and cross-posting options, multiple formats and even multiple uploading options. And this is just the start. If you are serious about videos or setting up an online channel. Use blip.tv!! I love it!!
It’s official, Web Pages are dead. Bryan Eisenberg offers a touching eulogy to the that once great paragon of Internet traffic. He writes,
The Web page was pronounced dead on October 9, 2006, after a long bought with chronic irrelevance. A large group of marketers attempted CPR and other heroic resuscitation techniques. Witnesses present at the scene told reporters that despite a few minutes of chaos, the Web page’s last moments were largely serene and peaceful.
There is talk of a MySpace Web Pages Memorial Group forming, and some web pages aficionados are gathering “on a hillside” at Second Life to comfort one another. The rest of us are just blogging it.
Apparently YouTube is getting ready to be sued into oblivion. At least that’s what Mark Cuban believes. According to Reuters,
“There is a reason they haven’t yet gone public, they haven’t sold. It’s because they are going to be toasted,” said Cuban, who has sold start-ups to Yahoo Inc. and CompuServe.
Dang! I was just starting to like YouTube. One minute they’re the fastest growing video sharing site in the world and the next minute they’re a burned up piece of bread from yesterday’s breakfast.
I actually think there’s potential to find a way to keep the irreverent and diverse user-generated content while still making peace with copyright holders and even welcome more commercial entities.
Well here’s hopin’ Cuban is just showboatin’ and the zany world of YouTube keeps growing and shocking.
Pajamas Media introduced its newest incarnation today, Politics Central. This brings to together blogs and podcasts with live interviews about the politics in our culture. One section of Politics Central is temporarily called X21 Central and its dedicated to folks who don’t fully identify with the current political labels in our culture. Sounds like me. I never know where I fit in.
Anyway, they introduced a new political group called Unity08 made up of folks who are interested in pushing the current landscape beyond the current polarization. I visited their site and am still not completely sure what they’re all about but could be an interesting group to watch. Anyone who is trying to encourage dialogue as opposed to competing monologues has got my attention.
